Greetings!  I'm Julie C. Netherland and this is my website. 

I'm Deputy State Director for the New York Office of the Drug Policy Alliance.  Previously, I was Director of Health Policy at New York Academy of Medicine.  I also recently completed my PhD in Sociology at the CUNY-Graduate Center.  My areas of expertise include medical sociology, sociology of the body, and health policy.  My dissertation focused on the integration of drug treatment into medical care settings and how addiction pharmaceuticals shape our understandings of addiction.  Currently, I am editing a volume called Critical Perspectives on Addiction for the book series, Advances in Medical Sociology.
